I have been very blessed when it comes to my friendships. I have many different types from the casual acquaintance to my nearest and dearest and they all serve a very special purpose. However, there is a special group of folks that have banded together over the last 16 years or so. We call ourselves "The Village". This group consists of 5 families: Currently 10 Adults and 10 children ages 7 months to 7 years. At this rate they will out number us in no time!

We didn't give ourselves this name it just sort of stuck based on a conversation I had with my sister in law. We were in Atlanta after one of my baby showers and a few of my Village peeps were there. We decided to go to the mall and get some dinner. With a few of the kids in tow we were wrangling everyone in the right direction and my sister in law said "you guys really have that 'it takes a village' thing going for you huh?" Yes...yes we do. I hadn't really given it much thought up to that point. We just were what we were to each other. The kids knew to listen to any of us when given direction, if you were disciplining someone else's child...they backed you up. It is a very unique relationship.

October 2009 @ Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party |
Ever since the mountains trip, we get together at least once a year. We try for more but sometimes we don't have the entire crew. We genuinely enjoy each other's company and the chaos that follows us. I know that no matter what, I can always depend on these people. And I know how lucky that makes me.

I wish that schedules, distance and money weren't factors that keep us from spending more time together, but they are. So we take what we can get and look forward to the next visit!
